The Scorpion’s Tail

I’ve lived with imposters,
For most of my life,
A narcissist’s tongue,
Is as sharp as a knife,
They suck you right in,
And rejoice when you fail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

You cannot find freedom,
You cannot breath air,
You’re frozen in place,
By their petulant stare,
You try to find peace,
While they whimper and wail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

Hysterical daggers,
Abandonment curse,
You try to break free,
But it makes matters worse,
They gaslight and scapegoat,
Emotions are frail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

You want to be heard,
So you question their pride,
But trust me you’re stuck,
On a dangerous ride,
They cannot concede,
So they fly off the rail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

And should you exhibit,
A differing thought,
Your views will be met,
With sarcastic retort,
For bigotry lives,
In the minor detail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

You will never conquer,
This battle of blame,
To you it is trauma,
To them it’s a game,
And where the facts lie,
They will always impale,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

So try not to struggle,
When caught in their vice,
T’was never your fault,
But you’ll still pay the price,
Being stuck in a fog,
Where the truth does curtail,
Whip, crack, you’ve been hit,
By the scorpion’s tail.

I’ve lived with imposters,
For most of my life,
A narcissist’s tongue,
Is as sharp as a knife,
Been holding my breath,
But it’s time to exhale,
And cut off the tip,
Of the scorpion’s tail.
