For bitterness digs you a grave,
Challenging fear is the only escape,
When panic forgets to behave,
Balancing pride is the ultimate risk,
No time to be grasping with shame,
But summoning joy is the greatest retort,
When narcissists flog you with blame.
Living well is the greatest revenge,
Where truth is distorted by hate,
Decay and despair tend to rip you apart,
When tyranny sits at your gate,
But prominent glow will battle the dark,
If shadows consume you inside,
So open a crack where the light can break free,
And offer you somewhere to hide.

Perilous odds and hazardous climbs,
Will help you to reach for your star,
For nothing is surer than life being hard,
But struggle does temper the steel,
That forges a strong incorruptible heart,
And summons a soul that is real.
